MISANO & MUGELLO, Italy — Solly Mervis continued his European development campaign in the CIV Aprilia Trofeo Cup aboard the Aprilia RS660 with the Revo Racing Nuova M2 Team, showing impressive pace, resilience, and maturity across race weekends at both Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli and Mugello Circuit.

At Misano, Mervis delivered a standout and unexpected qualifying performance, securing 5th position on the grid and starting from the middle of the second row in a highly competitive field. The effort immediately established him among the front-running group in just his early appearances in European competition.

Carrying that momentum into Race 1, Mervis pushed aggressively to stay with the leaders before suffering a crash in Turn 4 after braking too late while riding at the limit.

Despite the incident, Mervis escaped injury, and the bike sustained manageable damage. His Dainese racing suit and AGV helmet performed exactly as designed, allowing him to walk away safely and quickly refocus on the remainder of the Italian campaign.

“It was a tough but important lesson,” Mervis said following Misano. “I was pushing to stay with the leaders and just asked a little too much in that moment. I’ll take it, learn from it, and come back stronger.”

The Revo Racing Nuova M2 Team still celebrated a strong result at Misano, highlighted by teammate Ferruccio Lamborghini earning an impressive second-place finish.

That learning experience carried directly into Mugello, where Mervis responded with two top-five finishes during a challenging and weather-affected weekend at one of the world’s most iconic circuits.

Race 2 at Mugello presented particularly difficult conditions after heavy rain throughout the day created a major setup gamble for teams between full wets, mixed wet/slick combinations, or slick tires. Revo Racing Nuova M2 elected to run a full-wet setup.

Mervis again demonstrated exceptional racecraft off the line, surging into the lead from the start and pacing the field early. As the circuit rapidly dried, however, grip conditions became increasingly difficult for riders remaining on wet tires. Prioritizing experience, consistency, and bringing the bike home safely, Mervis managed the changing conditions to secure another strong fifth-place finish.

“It was a challenging situation for me,” said Mervis. “I hadn’t ridden on wets on a drying track before. The traction wasn’t what I hoped for, and most of all I wanted to make sure I brought my bike home safely. I am so thankful and proud to be part of the REVO Racing team, and I love this team. Nicola, Andrea, and getting to ride with and learn from Lambo is the best. I also want to thank Alle, Félix, and Jason.”

With two top-five finishes at Mugello and valuable international racing experience gained throughout the Italian CIV campaign, Mervis now returns to the United States to rejoin his Karns Performance / Ice Barn Racing team for the upcoming MotoAmerica round at Barber Motorsports Park.
