Sean Storment

Crew Chief

Sean Storment, Ice Barn Racing crew chief, has carved himself out quite a career of helping riders go fast. Storment came out of the gates strong, beginning in 1999, working on Jimmy Moore’s 750 Super Stock team, which captured the AMA national championship. Moore would repeat the feat in 2000, with Storment serving as his crew chief and tuner. Storment showed the racing world that those wins were no fluke as he worked arm-in-arm with Adam Ferguson, Australia’s national champion in 2002. In more recent times, Storment has worked on the crews of such iconic riders as Roger Hayden, Ben Bostrom, and Aaron Yates. Says Storment, “My job [at Ice Barn Racing] is to make the motorcycle comfortable for Solly. Because if the rider is comfortable, that’s when he can go fast.”

Josh Mervis – Owner & Managing Partner, Indy Ice Barn

Josh Mervis brings over 30 years of leadership experience in the hockey industry, with a proven track record of building successful organizations, developing elite talent, and creating sustainable infrastructure for long-term growth.

After starting his career in 1996 as an assistant coach at the University of Maine under Hall of Fame coach Shawn Walsh, Mervis transitioned into junior hockey, where he spent 26 years transforming the developmental landscape in the U.S. He played a key role in elevating the USHL from a modest Tier 1 league into the world’s top producer of NHL draft picks and NCAA Division I hockey talent.

As a founder and executive, Mervis led the revitalization and launch of multiple USHL franchises, including the Danville Wings, Indiana Ice, and Muskegon Lumberjacks. Under his direction, these programs helped over 500 players earn D1 scholarships and produced dozens of NHL draft selections. His organizations earned USA Hockey’s Junior A Community Service Award five times, a testament to his commitment to holistic player development and community engagement.

In 2020, Mervis expanded his entrepreneurial ventures by opening the Ice Barn-Indiana—a state-of-the-art hockey training center in central Indiana—designed to combine elite player instruction with scalable, cost-effective rink development. Focused on small-surface training and developmental efficiency, the Ice Barn represents a new model for sustainable growth in youth sports facilities.

Building upon his passion for sports development, Mervis founded Ice Barn Racing in 2022, a professional motorcycle racing team competing in the MotoAmerica series. The team features his son, Solly Mervis, a remarkable young rider who embodies resilience and determination. Despite navigating the unique challenges associated with Autism and neurodiversity, Solly has achieved significant success on the track, including five top-10 finishes and 12th overall in points during his rookie season in the 2024 MotoAmerica Junior Cup. The team's mission extends beyond racing, aiming to inspire and demonstrate the transformative power of perseverance and dedication.

Mervis continues to drive innovation in sports development while emphasizing strong organizational culture, community impact, and operational efficiency—hallmarks of his decades-long career.
